Learning From Others: My Favorite Top 10 Blogging Mistakes

As I dive into the eBiz and blogging world one of the coolest things I’ve run into is the fact that bloggers are real - at least the ones I come into contact with. They’re transparent. They’re not afraid to share their mistakes! I especially loved eMoms look back over one year of blogging.
This is a HUGE benefit for those that are new - and I’m soakin’ it up! Learning from your own mistakes: Great. Learning from others mistakes: Priceless! Thanks to all the bloggers who have posted about their mistakes - now maybe, just maybe, I have a chance at success!
Here are my favorite top 10 blogging mistakes:
- Writing every day (or missing days because of circumstances) and not using the future post option. (Love this option and I’ll make sure to use it!)
- Expecting people to just visit - without doing any leg work. (Really, that doesn’t work? JK!)
- Making linking mistakes.
- Underestimating the commitment - blogging takes work. (Boy oh Boy - just getting some great content is a full time job!)
- Participating in blog carnivals sooner. (This is one I will start doing right away.)
- Monetizing your blog too soon.
- Ignoring SEO. (It’s not that difficult - or is it?)
- Starting to many blogs at once. (This one has me thinking!)
- Not posting enough comments on other blogs.
- Trying to promote a challenge or activity without much traffic. (Traffic first, fun stuff later!)
The list is a little bit old but you check it out at Daily Blog Tips. Who knows maybe I missed a newer list or they have another one in the works.
Here’s another great post I just came across on 6 major blogging mistakes we all make. I especially like the first one - looking for the secret blogging super weapon! Wait! There’s no secret blogging super weapon!?
As we can see there are a lot of things to look out for. Sure, we’ll still make mistakes but knowing some upfront will definitely help out in the long run. The longer we blog the better we get.
Have you made some blogging mistakes not mentioned? If so please share!
